Tips to maintain your health in a kost/coliving during a pandemic

In recent times, the condition of the Covid-19 pandemic in Indonesia has become increasingly worrying. There has been a sharp increase in positive cases and deaths in various parts of the country. This is inseparable from the coronavirus mutation, which has created several new variants until now.

Therefore, the government was forced to issue an emergency PPKM policy that made our activities stagnant as happened last year. The impact is quite serious, many businesses are experiencing losses again when economic conditions begin to gradually recover.

Companies, agencies, and educational institutions are encouraged to enforce the WFH policy to maintain mutual safety. In addition, we are also advised to always apply health protocols according to government regulations and maintain health while doing activities from home.

Well, especially for those of you who live in a most or during this pandemic, Cove has some tips that you can apply every day. So you better listen carefully!

Maintain a social distance

One of the best ways to prevent ourselves from getting infected with the coronavirus is to keep our distance from each other and avoid crowds. As the government has advised from the start and the advice of relevant experts dealing with this pandemic, everyone is required to maintain a distance of at least 2 meters.

As reported by, a person can transmit the coronavirus through small droplets or droplets that come out through the nose or mouth when coughing and sneezing. If accidentally inhaled, then the virus will spread into the body.

In addition, the spread of the virus can also occur through indirect contact. If the droplets stick to objects around them and someone accidentally touches the contaminated object, then that person touches their mouth, eyes, or nose, then the virus can enter the body.

That is why we are obliged to keep our distance and avoid crowds for now. Because viruses can be anywhere and not detected.

Start a healthy lifestyle and exercise regularly

As mentioned earlier, in addition to following the appeal to keep our distance and avoid crowds, we are also encouraged to maintain our health during our activities from home or kost. First, try to start a healthy lifestyle, starting from improving your diet to be more regular and nutritious, have enough rest for at least 6–8 hours per day, and drinking at least 2.6 liters of water every day.

You can also do sports activities. No need to be heavy, just light exercise, the important thing is to run regularly and diligently. Some of the exercises that you can do yourself at your place are yoga, calisthenics (push-ups, squats, sit-ups, etc.), skipping, or lifting weights.

Implement 3M and health protocol

The 3M principle is the main key in the successful handling of Covid-19. 3M itself means social distancing, wearing masks, and washing hands with soap. All levels of society must continue to consistently apply 3M as part of the health protocol during the pandemic to prevent transmission.

The Covid-19 Handling Task Force once released research data that showed the risk of transmitting the virus could reach 100% if 3M was not implemented. Washing hands is said to be able to reduce the risk of transmission by 35%, coupled with the use of cloth masks by 45%, and medical masks by up to 70%. Furthermore, keeping a distance can reduce the risk by up to 85%. This fairly simple behavior can save many people around us.

Disinfect your room regularly

Not only about personal hygiene, but environmental hygiene also needs to be considered. This is important to do as part of efforts to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. Especially if any neighbors are undergoing self-isolation.

This virus can survive for hours to days when it lands on the surface of objects. Therefore, you need to clean your room regularly by disinfecting it.

Before starting the cleaning, prepare all the necessary equipment, ranging from masks, waterproof gloves made of rubber or plastic, garbage plastic, soap, disinfectant liquid, and some clean rags. While cleaning the room, leave the doors and windows open so there is air circulation that will help to reduce the risk of transmission.

Covid-19 prevention protocol certification by Siloam Hospital

Through his decree (HK.01.07/MENKES/382/2020) regarding health protocols for the community in public places and facilities, the Indonesian Minister of Health urges that the provision of residential accommodation must make efforts to mitigate the transmission of Covid-19 for workers, visitors, and service users.

This is primarily addressed to the management of hotels, inns, homestays, kost, and dormitories. There are many important points conveyed in the appeal. In essence, managers are asked to actively participate in health protocols.

One of the efforts that can be taken is to participate in actual training on the Covid-19 prevention protocol. As done by the staff, tenants, and housekeepers of Cove. Together, we participated in the Covid-19 Prevention Protocol training carried out by Siloam Hospital, and now the Cove team has been officially certified.

We always pay attention to the comfort of residents, staff, and stakeholders, and actively monitor the Covid-19 situation through the latest official guidelines. And not to forget to implement the necessary safety and hygiene measures to keep the community safe.
